Retired R.I. Engineer Dies at 75
Henry Bernard Danielson, 75, retired Rock Island Railroad engineer, died this morning at 8 o’clock at Holy Family Hospital after a prolonged illness.

Mr. Danielson had been hospitalized since May 30 and in ill health since December, 1962.

He was born May 18, 1888 in Husum, Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Danielson. He received his education in Germany.

Mr. Danielson came to the United States in 1906 and in 1913 sent for his bride-to-be and sister. Mr. Danielson was married to Lora Rabe on July 25, 1913 at Storm Lake.

Following their marriage, the Danielsons operated a hotel in Truesdale and then farmed in the Terril area for a few years. He began his employ with the Rock Island Railroad in 1919, moving to Estherville, and retired as an engineer in 1953.

Mrs. Danielson preceded him in death in 1961.

He was a member of the Christian Church.

Survivors include one son, Harold of Estherville; three daughters, Mrs. Francis (Arvella) Warrington, Estherville; Mrs. O. H. (Alice) Gould of St. Louis and Mrs. Morton (Dorothy) Evans of Estherville; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Two sisters, Mrs. Alvina Lorensen of Husum, Germany, and Mrs. William Siercks, Fremont, Neb., and one brother, Thomas Thomson of Husum, Germany, also survive.

Mr. Danielson was preceded in death by his wife and one daughter, Evelyn.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Church with the Rev. Lester Strubhar officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at Reese Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. Thursday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state.

Pallbearers will be Robert Warrington, Daniel Evans, Richard Danielson, Ronald Warrington, Burton Strubhar and Robert Ridley. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 3, 1963)
