Lloyd Anderson Services Saturday in Estherville
Lloyd Lewis Anderson, 86, of Van Nuys, Calif., died April 16, 1973, in Granada Hills Community Hospital, Calf. Funeral services for Mr. Anderson, a former resident of Estherville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Reese-Henry Chapel with the Rev. Richard Headen officiating with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at Reese-Henry Chapel.

Mr. Anderson was born Jan. 5, 1887, in Palo to Dr. Albert and Effie Conley Anderson. The family came to Estherville when he was four years old and he was educated through the first two years of high school in Estherville. He then attended Coe Academy, Cedar Rapids, where he was graduated in 1905 and Cedar Rapids Business College of Law and Commerce, with graduation in 1908. He also attended University of Iowa Law School.

In 1909, he was married to Mary K. Ferguson in Spirit Lake. Mr. Anderson was associated with his father in operation of a drug store in Estherville and later was a salesman for Sun Oil Co., in South Dakota. In recent years, he was a salesman for an international advertising firm.

Mr. Anderson was a 50-year Mason of Estherville North Star Lodge No. 447, having joined the lodge with his father, Dr. Anderson, on Feb. 15, 1908. He was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on March 27 of the same year. He served three terms as High Priest of Jeptha Chapter No. 128 of Royal Arch Masons at Estherville and was a past commander of Esdralon (commandery No. 52 of the Knights Templar).

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Estherville.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; one daughter, Mrs. Stanley (Alberta) Gardner of Burbank, Calif.; two grandsons, Gary Gardner, Marina Del Rey, Calif., and Layton Gardner, Irvine, Calif.; one granddaughter, Mrs. James P. Maxwell, Pittsburgh, Pa.; four great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lehman Rovn, Robert Griffith, Lester Sidles, V. H. “Ole” Sidle, Harris Meyers and John Rugtiv. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 19, 1973)
