Bombarger Rites to Be Friday
Funeral Services for Well Known Emmet County Resident to be at Methodist Church

The community was shocked and grieved Tuesday when it was learned that Frank Bombarger, 66, had passed away suddenly from a heart attack. Mr. Bombarger had gone to the Luikhart farm to drill a well Tuesday morning when he became suddenly ill. He was brought to his home in Estherville at once where he passed away at noon, a half hour later.

Mr. Bombarger was born at Gibson, Iowa, July 8, 1874. He spent his young boyhood on a farm in that community and in 1892 he came to Emmet county to establish his home, settling on a farm near Huntington. On March 9, 1898 he was united in marriage to Miss Amy B. Sharar at the home of the bride’s parents near Dolliver. Mr. and Mrs. Bombarger continued to make their home on their farm near Huntington until about 20 years ago when they retired and moved to Estherville, purchasing a home on South Seventh Street. They celebrated their 34rd anniversary in March of this year.

Three daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bombarger, all of whom survive their father. They are Mrs. E. C. Sidles and Mrs. I. I. Weller, of Estherville, and Mrs. R. C. Steinhilber, of Pocahontas.

Mr. Bombarger was a quiet, reserved man who made friends wherever he went by his genial disposition and his pleasant personality. He worked hard yet he had time to enjoy the many things which were of interest to him. He became a member of the local Methodist church several years ago and has taken an active part in the affairs of this body. He was an active member of the Brotherhood class of the Methodist church. His greatest interest was in his home and his family and whatever he did was to their ultimate pleasure and enjoyment.

Funeral services for Mr. Bombarger will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the home and 2:30 at the Methodist church with the Rev. F. W. Ortmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Walter Schultz, John Sidles, Roy C. Brown, Ed Swanson, Albert Irwin and D. A. Bagan.

Besides his widow and three daughters, Mr. Bombarger is survived by three grandchildren, Elaine Sidles and Earl and Margorie Weller, all of Estherville; four sisters, Mrs. Joe Warner, Sandstone, Minn., Mrs. Fred Sharar, of Dunnell, Minn., Mrs. H. D. Stanwood, of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Fred Sanborn, of San Francisco, Calif., and four brothers, Charles Bombarger, of Windom, Minn., Will Bombarger, of Huntington, Carl Bombarger of Estherville, and Ora Bombarger, of Motley, Minn. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Walter Bombarger. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, May 22, 1941)
