Mrs. Rose L. Booth Dies Very Suddenly Wednesday Night
Mrs. Rose L. Booth died very suddenly at five minutes after six Wednesday evening at her home. Mrs. Booth hasn’t enjoyed very good health for several years, but her death was unexpected at this time. She had just spent Christmas day at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Soren Nielsen, at Halfa, and took sick that night.Rose Lauer was born March 16, 1856 in Chicago, Ill. On September 23, 1880, she was united in marriage to Daniel Booth in Chicago. In 1894 they moved to Emmet county and in 1914 they moved from Halfa to Estherville. She is survived by seven children, Edwin of LaPlant, S. Dak.; E. A. Booth, of Ridgeview, S.Dak.; Mrs. Soren Nielsen of Halfa; Daniel of Des Moines, and George, Charles and Priscilla of this city. Her husband preceded her in death about nine years ago.
Mrs. Booth had a wide circle of friends who will miss her. She spent much of her time in reading and was well versed on many subjects, therefore a good conversationalist.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 o’clock at the home and 2:30 at the Presbyterian church. Rev. A. G. Bailey will have charge of the services. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 26, 1934)
Although Mrs. Rose Booth, 78, has been in poor health for the past three years, her death last evening at 6:05 was a shock to her family and her many friends. Her death came as an aftermath of a happy Christmas day spent with her family at the farm home of her daughter, Mrs. Soren Nielson at Halfa. She took sick early Wednesday morning and lost consciousness about 4 o’clock in the morning. She did not awaken all day and passed away in her sleep.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home and at 2:30 at the Presbyterian church. The Rev. Arthur B. Bailey will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery.
Rose Lauer was born March 16, 1856 in Chicago where she grew to womanhood. On Sept. 23, 1880 she was united in marriage to Daniel Booth, and to this union seven children were born. They came to Emmet county in 1894 and settled on a farm near Halfa. They lived there until in 1914 when because of poor health Mr. Booth gave up his farming duties and moved his family to Estherville. On May 5, 1925 Mr. Booth passed away at his home.
Prior to her illness Mrs. Booth was an active worker in the Presbyterian church organizations. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine and service Star Legion and has always taken an interest in their activities.
Mrs. Booth is preceded in death by all her ten brothers and sisters and her husband. She is survived by the following children, E. A. Booth of Ridgeview, S.D., who was here spending the holidays with his mother, Edwin Booth of LaPlante, Mrs. Soren Nielson of Halfa, Daniel Booth of Des Moines, and George, Charles and Priscilla Booth at home.
