Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Baptist church for Mrs. Roy Wilhelm [Wilhelms], 19, who passed away Friday [January 2, 1942] at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Coner [Croner], at Harcourt, Iowa. The Rev. G. E. Forsell conducted the rites and burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery. A service was held Saturday afternoon at Harcourt and the body was brought to Estherville in the Sternborg ambulance for services and burial here.Gertrude Croner was born in Deer Park, Wis., Feb. 7, 1922. The family moved to Iowa in 1926 and have lived here since then. For a few years they lived at Armstrong, later moving to Estherville. After completing her education in the Estherville high school Gertrude went to Billings, Mont., where she was united in marriage with Roy Wilhelm on Sept. 14, 1940. They returned to Estherville to make their home a few months ago. Mrs. Wilhelm had been in poor health for several months, suffering from Brights disease. She went to Harcourt to visit her parents, who had moved there recently, and was taken seriously ill while there. Her husband was summoned and everything possible was done for her but she passed away Friday afternoon.
Besides her husband and parents [she is] survived by one sister, Ruth Croner and two brothers, Howard and John Croner. One brother, Ralph, passed away two years ago.
Mrs. Wilhelm was a lady who made friends readily and retained and cherished these friendships. Although never enjoying exceptionally good health she made the best of her lot, never complaining or grumbling, and always ready and willing to assist wherever possible.
