Passed Away at Cedar Rapids Friday [April 13, 1934]
Funeral services for Mrs. L. S. Williams [Mary Gorton], 90, former Estherville resident were held Sunday morning at the Oak Hill cemetery, the Rev. A. G. Baily in charge.

Mrs. Williams passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry [Doolittle in Cedar Rapids Friday] morning. She was born October 19, 1843 in Huntington, Vermont. In 1866 she came to Emmet county where she lived until 26 years ago when she went to Cedar Rapids to make her home. She was a charter member of the Estherville Presbyterian church. She belonged to the P.E.O., the Eastern Star and the K. K. Klub.

She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Harry Doolittle of Cedar Rapids, and two sons, Hale of Minneapolis and Burr of Washington, D.C. Her husband passed away 30 years ago.

The members of the P.E.O. chapter attended the funeral and the K. K. Klub had charge of the flowers. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, April 17, 1934)

Mrs. May G. Williams Buried Here Sunday
The remains of Mrs. May G. Williams, of Cedar Rapids, was brought here for burial on Sunday morning. There were no services here and the remains were taken directly from the train.

Mrs. Williams was the wife of L. S. Williams, a pioneer resident of this city who was at one time postmaster and later was for years clerk of the district court. Mrs. Williams left this city with her daughter, Mrs. H. H. Doolittle, some twenty-six years ago. She has resided with her daughter since that time.

Mrs. Williams was born on October 19, 1843. She came here with her husband in an early day and they reared their family, consisting of two sons, Burr, of Washington, D.C.; Hale, of Minneapolis and Mrs. Doolittle, of Cedar Rapids.

In the early day Mrs. Williams was an active church worker and was also actively engaged in Sunday school work. She had a host of friends in this city and was beloved by all who knew her.

The Rev. Arthur T. Bailey conducted a short service at the grave. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, April 18, 1934)
