Mrs. Fred White Dies at Hospital
Mrs. Fred Jay White, 90, resident of Estherville since 1904, died at 5:15 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital.

Mrs. White had been a patient since Dec. 27, 1954.

She was born Oct. 21, 1875, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Spaulding of Sioux City.

She was married April 24, 1901, in Grand Island, Neb., to Fred Jay White. They lived at Forest City where he was treasurer of the Northern Lumber Co. until 1904 when they came to Estherville.

Mr. White was president of the Northern Lumber Co. with general offices in Estherville, and seven branch offices in northern Iowa as well as farm implement dealerships in the area.

He was also an organizer of the Lehigh Sewer Pipe and Tile Co. of Fort Dodge.

Mrs. White is survived by a son, James White of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Susan) Avery, San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. George (Mary) Thompson of Estherville; four grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. James White will be unable to attend his mother’s funeral service because of Mr. White’s ill health.

She was preceded in death by her husband March 14, 1951, her parents, one sister and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Rev. Charles duBois officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home any time Sunday until time of the services.

Pallbearers will be Leo Fitzgibbons, C. W. Robinson, Don Hoye, William H. Bennett, Deemer Lee, and Jerry Stockdale. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 16, 1966)
