Joe Tusler Final Rites Are Scheduled
Joe Tusler, 74, Estherville, died at 3:10 p.m. Sunday [April 6, 1969] afternoon at Holy Family Hospital following a stroke.He was born Aug. 17, 1894, at Everly to Mr. and Mrs. Edgar E. Tusler. He was educated in the Everly area.
He was married March 7, 1917, to Pearl Mae Sherman at Spirit Lake. They moved to Estherville in 1917, where he worked for the railroad for 25 years.
In 1942, he became employed by the Tobin packing plant in Estherville, where he worked until his retirement in 1958.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Mae; one son, Maj. Dearld Tusler, in Germany with the U.S. Air Force; two grandchildren, Bernie and Robert Tusler; one sister, Irene; brother Roy, both of Racine, Wis.
Funeral services for Joe Tusler will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Rawlin Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Tuesday until noon on Thursday, when the casket will be taken to the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 7, 1969)
Postpone Services
Funeral services for Joe Tusler, scheduled for 2 .m. Thursday, have been postponed until Friday at the same time in the hope that a son from Germany will be able to arrive in time. The services will be at Calvary Baptist Church, the Rev. Rawlin Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Tusler died Sunday afternoon.
