Body Taken Overland to Estherville for Burial

Clear Lake, Oct. 5 – Funeral services for Mrs. G. V. Gist, who died at her home on East Main street Monday [October 3, 1927] morning, were held this morning at the Methodist church with the Rev. W. B. Milne, pastor of the Congregational church, in charge.

Miss Emily Kessler was born at Columbus, Ohio, Aug. 19, 1838, the eldest of four daughters. When a small child she moved with her parents to Wisconsin where she resided until she was 18 years old. In 1857 she was united in marriage to Lucius Tone. Nine children were born to this union, three having preceded her in death. Mr. Tone died Jan. 8, 1913 at Estherville.

On Jan. 8, 1919 she was married to George Gist of Clear Lake, where they have since made their home. Her death occurred exactly five years to the very day after the death of Mr. Gist on Oct. 3, 1923.

During her early life Mrs. Gist was united with the Methodist church at Spirit Lake, of which she had since been an active member. She was a member of the W.R.C., sons of veterans and the American Legion auxiliary besides belonging to several clubs.

She leaves to mourn her death six children, Will Tone, Estherville; Mrs. Laura Wells, Chelm, Wash.; Jess Tone, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Mrs. Ten Parish, Blerney, Mont.; Charles Tone and Mrs. C. F. Bemis, Clear Lake, one sister, Mrs. Irene McFarlin of Springfield, Colo., besides many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
