Ex-County Teacher Dies At Rest Home
Mrs. Charles (Dove Trimble) Thomas, 86, a former longtime Emmet County teacher, died late yesterday afternoon at the Simpson Rest Home where she had made her home for the pat 14 years. Death was attributed to complications of advanced age.

Born March 21, 1877 in Washington County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benoni Trimble. She attended the Washington County schools and was a graduate of Morningside College, Sioux City. Mrs. Trimble taught school in Washington County before coming to Estherville.

She was married to Charles S. Thomas in June, 1900 at her home here in Estherville. Mr. Thomas died in March 1905.

Mrs. Thomas taught in the Gruver school and in other schools throughout the county, continuing her teaching until 1934 when she was in an auto accident. After that time her health did not permit further teaching.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sheldon (Birdie) Fillenworth of Wheatridge, Colo., and two grandchildren.

She was the last surviving member of her family, having been preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother.

Funeral services are to be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Fuhrman Funeral Home, the Rev. William R. Noland officiating. Interment is to be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call at Fuhrman’s Friday and until time of services Saturday morning. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 8, 1963)
