A.Lundwall, Estherville, Dies at 83
Arthur Lundwall, 83, Estherville, died Sunday at 8:40 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital. His death was attributed to a stoke. Mr. Lundwall had been ill for seven months.
He was born July 5, 1885, in Helsingborg, Skonne County, Sweden, the son of Arthur and Marie Brodberg Lundwall. He moved to the United States at the age of seven to Fall River, Mass. He was educated there and at Massachusetts State Teacher’s College, where he earned a B.S. degree. He also did graduate work at Columbia University, New York.
He later moved to Worcester, Mass., and taught in the public schools at Lowell, Mass., having been industrial arts teacher there for 40 years.
Mr. Lundwall was married Oct. 19, 1912, at Worcester to Hedwig Peterson. Mr. Lundwall retired in 1955.
Several years after Mrs. Lundwall’s death, Mrs. Lundwall was re-married July 12, 1963, to Mrs. Embar Stoery of Estherville. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Lundwall lived in Estherville.
Mr. Lundwall was a veteran member of the Gideon International Society, had traveled extensively in the United State and abroad. He was a member of the Trimont Evangelical Covenant Church, Trimont, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, Embar; a son, Paul W. Lundwall of Gulph Mills, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Helen) Johnson of Bedford, Mass.; three step-children, Mrs. O.J. Heise of Birmingham, Mich., Samuel Stoery of Northbrook, Ill., and Thomas Stoery of Naperville, Ill.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Lundwall were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. John Lovgren of Trimont and Rev. Denzil Neumann officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
