Spaulding Obituary
Don H. Spaulding, son of Harris J. Spaulding and Sarah F. Knox, was born in Wysox township, Carroll county, Ill., Feb. 11, 1876, and died April 19, 1937, at the Coleman hospital after an illness of several months.

He moved to Grundy county, Iowa with his parents at the age of ten and grew to manhood on a farm near Dike, Iowa. On the 25th of April in1900 [Mrs. Spaulding’s obituary says 1899] he was united in marriage to Etta Marie Smith, who preceded him in death in 1923. To this union two children were born, a daughter, Wava Mae, and a son, Wayne Jay.

They lived on a farm near Dike for about nine years, then moved to a farm in Emmet county where he farmed for 27 years.

He leaves to mourn his death, one daughter, Wava Mae, one son, Wayne Jay, one grandson, Paul Jay, all of Estherville, one sister, Mrs. George Billman of Dike, Iowa, and one nephew, Harris Lines of Estherville. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, April 22, 1937)
