ESTHERVILLE — John Spoo, 90, Estherville, died Thursday afternoon at the Good Samaritan Center, Estherville.

Services for Mr. Spoo will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Sunday until time of services.

Mr. Spoo was born Oct. 15, 1886, in Fort Dodge, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Spoo. He received his education in the Fort Dodge area and was married to Martha Zerke April 26, 1911, at Estherville. He was employed for the Rock Island Railroad until 1918, when he started farming south of Estherville. He farmed until 1945, when he moved to Estherville.

He is survived by five sons, Raymond Spoo, Estherville, Herbert Spoo, Jackson, Minn., Kenneth Spoo, Terril, John Spoo Jr., Iowa Falls, and Donald Spoo, Estherville; 23 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 3, 1977)
