Death at 71 for Stammer
Louis Stammer, 71, of Estherville, was found dead at his home at 3:30 p.m. yesterday. He died from an apparent heart attack and had been in failing health for several years.Louis H. Stammer was born Oct. 22, 1895, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Stammer. He received his education in Emmet County schools and farmed near Huntington.
He was married to Ann Seeman at LeMars Oct. 15, 1938.
He lived most of his life in Emmet County and served over 40 years with the Rock Island Railroad as an engineer.
Mr. Stammer was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include two brothers, George of Spirit Lake and William of Staples, Minn., and one half-brother, Arthur Miller of Walker.
He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Hartkimeyer of Atkins, Mrs. Athel Hauk of Port Angeles, Wash., Mrs. Ed Maniece of rural Estherville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
His wife, parents, and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home. Intern pastor Robert Iddings will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may all at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Friday until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 17, 1966)
Mrs. Ruth Temple and son, John, were here to attend funeral services for Louie Stammer and to spend the Thanksgiving observance with Mrs. Temple’s mother and brother, Mrs. Ed Maniece and Frank Maniece. All were guests Thursday at the Kenneth West home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 25, 1966)
