Edwin Sorum
Edwin Sorum, 82, Estherville, died Friday, Sept. 9, 1977 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Services for Mr. Sorum were held Monday morning, Sept. 12 at the Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel, Estherville, with the Rev. Harvey Troop officiating.

Military graveside rites were conducted at the cemetery and Masonic services were held Sunday evening, Sept. 11 at the Masonic Temple.

Mr. Sorum was born Jan. 8, 1895, in Emmet county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Brade Sorum. He received his education in rural Emmet County schools and attended Waldorf Business College.

He was married to Rose Wier and worked for the railroad for 18 years, then owned and operated a garage for 28 years and was a dealer for Studebaker in Estherville. He retired in 1960.

Mr. Sorum was a veteran of World War I, member of the First Presbyterian Church, American Legion, North Star Lodge 447, Jeptha Chapter Knights of Templar, Eastern Star, White Shrine, Abu Bekr Temple Shrine, was a 32nd degree Mason and past master.

He is survived by two son, Marvin Sorum, Omaha, Neb., and Merle Sorum, Estherville; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Herman Sorum, Estherville.

Mr. Sorum was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and one sister. (Lake Park News, Lake Park, IA, September 29, 1977)
