Daughter of Estherville Woman Dies
Virginia Shonkwiler, 54, daughter of Mrs. S. A. Shonkwiler of Estherville, died Monday night in Newport Beach, Calif., after an illness of several months.She was at the home of a sister, Mrs. Lowell Evans, at the time of her death.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Shonkwiler, she was born April 28, 1910, at Harley. The family moved to the Estherville community in1926, and she graduated from Estherville High School.
She was employed for several years as a secretary at the Oxford Paper Co. in New York City.
Survivors include her mother, five brothers, Oliver and Roger of Estherville, Douglas of Dumont, N.J., Lincoln of Skokie, Ill., and Richard of Orange, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Claude (Ruth) Willey of Storm Lake, and Mrs. Lowell (Ann) Evans of Newport Beach, Calif.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery here. Other arrangements are incomplete. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 18, 1965)
Graveside Rites Today
Graveside funeral services for Alma Virginia Shonkwiler, 54, a resident of New York City who died March 15 in Newport Beach, Calif., are scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. today at Oakhill Cemetery, Rev. Rawlin Johnson officiating. Reese Funeral Home is in charge. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 27, 1965)
