Long-Time Farmer of Area Dies
Charles Seeliger, 76, a farmer for many years in the Estherville area, died yesterday afternoon of a heart attack while en route to Holy Family hospital in an ambulance Mr. Seeliger had been in ill health for some time.He was born Aug. 12, 1877 at Union, Ia., the son of Dr. and Mrs. Herman Seeliger. He was reared at Union and attended the public schools there.
Mr. Seeliger was married on Feb. 26, 1899 and he and Mrs. Seeliger farmed at Union until moving to Emmet county in March in 1915. Since 1915 Mr. Seeliger has farmed in Emmet and Dickinson counties but mostly in Emmet county.
He was a member of the Christian church here.
Mr. Seeliger is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Ethel) Case and Mrs. Joe (Gladys) Erpelding, both of Estherville, one son, Cecil Seeliger, also of Estherville; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Christian church, the Rev. Clyde Leeds officiating. Friends may call at the Sternborg Funeral Homes this evening and tomorrow morning the body will be taken to the Christian church where it will lie in state from 10 a.m. until time of services. The casket will not be open after services. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 6, 1954)
