Mrs. Scott, 18, is Dead
Mrs. Richard Scott, 18, the former Nancy Lou Hoffman of Gruver, died yesterday at 11:50 a.m. in Holy Family Hospital. Mrs. Scott had been taken to the hospital Monday morning after her husband tried to awaken her and found that while sleeping she had slipped into a diabetic coma. Mrs. Scott had suffered from diabetes for a number of years.She was born Sept. 26, 1945, in Estherville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hoffman. Nancy received her education in the Estherville and Lincoln Central schools. She was a member of the current graduating class at Lincoln Central High School before her marriage.
She was married March 21, 1964, to Richard Scott, their marriage taking place at the Christian Church in Spencer. Mr. and Mrs. Scott had lived in Estherville since their marriage. He is employed at Estherville Cooperative Creamery.
Mrs. Scott is survived by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman of Gruver; three sisters, Georgia of Chicago, Ill., Maria and Connie, both at home; a brother, Dennis, at home; and her grandmother, Mrs. Hazel Weber of Dolliver.
Funeral services are to be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Christian Church, the Rev. Gerald F. Sawyer of the Spencer Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today until Friday morning at which time the body will be taken to the church where friends may call from 10 o’clock until time of the service. The casket will not be opened after the service.
Pallbearers are to be Dennis Grems, Richard Swartz, David Aanonson, Robert Lilland, Gailen Gage and Randy Peterson, all high school classmates and friends of Mrs. Scott. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 29, 1964)
