Mrs. Scott Dies at 72
Mrs. Raymond Scott, 72, of Armstrong died at 1:20 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital. Death was attributed to a stroke. She had been a patient at the hospital for 10 days.Funeral services for the family will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Public services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Armstrong Methodist Church, Rev. Herman Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Estherville.
Gertrude Alice Batman was born Oct. 14, 1894, at Wayne, Neb., to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Batman. As a child she moved with her parents to Hornick, where she was married to Raymond Scott.
She and her husband farmed in the Hornick and Whiting areas until 1918 when they moved to Estherville. They lived in the Estherville area until 1948 when they moved to Armstrong.
She was a member of the Armstrong Methodist Church and was active in several church organizations.
Survivors include her husband Raymond of Armstrong; two sons, Lt. Col. Melvin Scott of Brooking, S.D., and Robert Scott of Estherville; three daughters, Mrs. Tony (Margorie) Stam of Terril, Mrs. Ted (Dorothy) Nelson of Estherville, and Mrs. Wayne (Phyllis) Sheeley of Mason City.
Other survivors include 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Joe Gariano of Omak, Wash.
Her parents, three brothers, and two sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the Slaba-Reese Funeral Home at Armstrong from today until noon Saturday when the body will be taken to the church.
