Ashley Scott, Ex-Resident of City, Dies
Ashley S. Scott, 68, former resident of Estherville, died late Sunday afternoon at Woods Veteran Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis. Mr. Scott had been hospitalized for the past seven or eight years with a heart ailment.

A resident of Estherville until about 15 years ago, Mr. Scott, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Scott, was born Nov. 14, 1888, coming to Estherville with his parents as a child. He had been a railroad employee while in Estherville and also worked as a city assessor with his father for some time.

Veteran of World War I, Mr. Scott served in France with the Engineers Corp.

He is survived by six brothers, Walter of Estherville; Ray of Armstrong; Charles of Libertyville, Ill.; Dan of Waukegan, Il.; Dewey of Downers Grove, Ill.; and Joe of Lansing, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Dorothy) Jenson of Estherville; Mrs. Charles (Rachel) Murray of Deerfield, Ill. and Mrs. Ralph (Sarah) Wickersham of Lake Bluff, Il., and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Scott’s body is being returned to Estherville for services and burial. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Christian Church, The Rev. Lester Strubhar officiating.

Friends may call at Sternborg Funeral Home from Wednesday noon until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 18, 1957)
