Services Held For Mrs. Cole Here Saturday

Mrs. Chester Cole, mother of J. H. Scharfenberg of this city, died Thursday [September 11, 1930] at her home here after an illness of only a few days. Mrs. Cole was 75 years old at the time of her death and has been a resident of Estherville since 1882. Funeral services were held Saturday at the German Lutheran church with the Rev. Otis Lang officiating. Burial was in Oakhill cemetery.

Anna Scharfenberg Cole as born Aug. 31, 1855, in Westphalen, Germany. She came to the United States in 1874 and settled in Decorah. On March 20, 1876, she married George Scharfenberg and to this union three sons were born. They are: J. H. of Estherville, G. C. of Conde, S.D., and L.H., of Milwaukee, Wis. After the death of Mr. Scharfenberg she was married to Chester Cole in Nov. 1911. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, September 18, 1930)
