Ceylon Man, 55, Dies En Route to Hospital

Adolph Stewart Sampson, 55, died at 3:15 p.m. yesterday while en route to Holy Family Hospital by ambulance from his home in Ceylon. Death was attributed to a stroke.

He was born June 15, 1913, at Harris, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sampson. He came to Emmet County in 1915 with his parents.

He was educated in Estherville schools and had worked in Estherville and Jackson vicinities until moving to Ceylon about 10 years ago.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Samson was baptized the Round Lake, Minn., Lutheran Church and was a confirmed member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Clara M. Sampson of Estherville; four brothers, Marion of Jackson, LeRoy of Des Moines, Harold of Estherville, and Donald of Ceylon; and three sisters, Mrs. Robert Fox, Mrs. William Kinnard, Mrs. W. C. Wellnitz, all of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and a sister.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Reese-Henry Funeral Chapel in Estherville, the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Friday until time of the service on Saturday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 10, 1969)
