Mrs. Rost Dies at 83
Mrs. Charles (Mary) Rost, 83, Estherville resident for more than 50 years, died today at 4:40 a.m. in Holy Family Hospital.Mrs. Rost’s death was attributed to complications of advanced age. She had been admitted to the hospital a week ago.
The former Mary Margaret Claypool was born March 16, 1883, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bird E. Claypool of Hampton.
She was married Jan. 13, 1903, to Charles C. Rost at Jackson, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Rost made their home in Estherville where he was an engineer for the Rock Island Railroad. Mr. Rost died in November, 1953.
Mrs. Rost was a member of the Union Baptist Church and the Degree of Honor.
She is survived by one son, Charles E. (Gene) Rost of Estherville, one granddaughter, Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Abel of Estherville; two great-grandsons, Bryce and Jay Abel; and three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Lucke of Kennewick, Wash., Mrs. Earl Reymore, and Mrs. John Bell of Richland, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant daughter, Opal.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Rev Rawlin Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home anytime Tuesday and until time of services Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 12, 1966)
