Mrs. Sarah Wilder, 100, Dies at Boone

Mrs. Sarah Helen Wilder, who was 100 years, nine months and 18 days old and a former Emmet county resident, died yesterday in a rest home at Boone. Until recently she has lived for many years with her daughter, Mrs. A. T. Lerdall of Ames.

Mrs. Wilder was born Dec. 6, 1854 at Mount Carroll, Ill. She was married Feb. 4, 1877 to Andrew J. Wilder at Grundy Center and the couple came to Emmet county where they farmed near Gruver. Mr. and Mrs. Wilder retired from the farm in 1923 and moved to Estherville. Mr. Wilder died in 1927 and after that Mrs. Wilder went to Ames to live with her daughter.

In addition to Mrs. Lerdall she is survived by a son, Clarence Wilder of Estherville; one brother, Frank; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Two children preceded her in death, Mrs. Jessie Igou and Clyde Wilder, both of Estherville.

Burial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill cemetery with the Rev. Harrison Dawes of First Methodist church officiating. Friends may call at Sternborg Funeral Home from Thursday noon until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 25, 1955)
