G. B. Osher, 77, Died Wednesday [November 29, 1961], Rites Saturday

Gilbert B. Osher, 77, lifelong resident of Emmet and Palo Alto counties, died shortly after noon Wednesday at his home in Graettinger. He was hospitalized for seven weeks following a stroke in August and had been ill since that time. He had been in failing health the past three years. Death was attributed to a series of strokes.

Services are planned for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wallingford Lutheran church with the Rev. N. L. Jolivette officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Estherville.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fuhrman Funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. until time of services.

Mr. Osher was born Aug. 23 1885, near Wallingford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bergus Osher. He attended the Emmet county schools and farmed in the Wallingford area until moving to Graettinger a number of years ago. On June 30, 1920 he was married to Rebecca Burg, who died Feb. 3, 1946. He married Mrs. Kate Osher Aug. 29, 1955 at Jackson, Minn. and they have lived in Graettinger since.

Immediate survivors include his wife, Kate, nine step-children, Almer Asher, Polson, Mont.; Gilford Osher, Wallingford; Leonard Osher, Ruthven; Norman Osher, Denver, Colo.; Ernest Osher, of Westover, Mass.; Mrs. Glenden (Esther) Thu, Terril; Mrs. Darrell (Ruth) Nelson, West Des Moines; Mrs. Vance (Geneva) Knutsen, Santa Clara, Calif.; and John Osher, Los Alamos, New Mexico; one brother, Wm. Osher of St. Anne, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Henry Duus of Graettinger.

Wallingford Rites for G. B. Osher, 77, Lifelong Resident

Funeral services for Gilbert B. Osher, 77, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at Wallingford Lutheran church with Rev. N. L. Jolivette officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill cemetery at Estherville, with Marlin-Furhman funeral home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Osher’s death was caused by a series of strokes. He had been ill for three years.

Mr. Osher was born Aug. 3, 1884, on a farm near Wallingford. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Bergas Osher of Wallingford. He received his education in the Emmet county schools. He married Rebecca Berg June 30, 1920 and she died Feb. 1946. On Aug 29, 1955 he married Mrs. Kate Oasher at Jackson, Minn.

Mr. Osher farmed most of his life on a farm near Wallingford. He moved to Graettinger about 10 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Kate, and nine step-children, Elmer of Paulson, Mont., Gilbert of Wallingford, Leonard of Ruthven, Norman of Denver, Colo., Ernest of Westover, Mass., John of Los Alamos, N.M., Mrs. Glendon Thu of Terril, Mrs. Darrell Nelson of West Des Moines, Mrs. Vance Knutson of Santa Clara, Calif., one brother, William, of St. Anne, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Henry Duus of Graettinger.
