Mrs. H. C. Olmstead Died at Cherokee
Mrs. H. C. Olmstead passed away Wednesday morning at Cherokee after a month’s illness. She was taken to Cherokee for medical attention about three weeks ago and her condition was not considered serious at that time.

The funeral services will be held at the Church of Christ on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., the Rev. Fred Sawyer officiating. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, September 5, 1940)

Well-Known Woman Dies
Mrs. H. C. Olmstead Mother of Eleven Dies After s Short Illness; Funeral Fri.

Mrs. H.C. Olmstead passed away yesterday morning in a Cherokee hospital following a month’s illness which proved fatal. Mrs. Olmstead with her husband and family moved to this city in 1923 and has lived here since.

Mrs. Olmstead was born at River Sioux, Iowa, Feb. 5, 1884 and was married to Harvey C. Olmstead Dec. 19, 1900. She was the daughter of Alfred and Frances Gee of River Sioux. One son Newell preceded her in death. He passed away nine years ago.

Mrs. Olmstead is survived by her husband and ten children who are: Mrs. Joe McCall of Soldier, Ia.; Mrs. Frances Elkin of Estherville, Roscoe Olmstead of Hampton, the Misses Gladys and Maude Olmstead of Estherville; Shurrell of Minneapolis, Robert, Howard, Earl, and Harold all of St. Paul, Minn. There are 15 grand children.

Two brothers survive Mrs. Olmstead. They are John Cooper of Keyes, Okla.; George Gee of Mondamin, Ia.; sisters are Mrs. Frances Wallis of Mondamin, Mrs. Nellie Wallis and Mrs. Agnes Peasley of Pisgah, Ia., Mrs. Florence McHenry of Omaha and Mrs. Margaret Ford of Logan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon in the Church of Christ with the Rev. Fred Sawyer in charge. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 5, 1940)
