Dies After Heart Attack - Carl Oscar Bombarger, 71, Estherville, died at his home at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, following a heart attack. Mr. Bombarger had been ill for one week.
Mr. Bombarger was born May 11, 1889, at Gibson City, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Barton Bombarger, and moved to Emmet County with his parents when he was two years old. He received his education in Emmet County schools.
He and Flo Schenck were married Feb. 14, 1912 at Estherville, and farmed in the Estherville area until the death of his wife in 1922. Mr. Bombarger and his brother ran a gasoline service station for several years, and in 1934, he married Cora Hildreth. Mr. Bombarger also worked as a laborer and at the John Morrell Co. plant in Estherville. He was a member of The Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife, Cora; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Luckhurst, of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Ruth Matheson of Armstrong; and two grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother, Ora Bombarger of Motley, Minn.; a half-brother, C. E. Bombarger of Winona, Minn.; and half-sister, Mrs. Pearl Sharas of Dunnell, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, three half-sisters and two half-brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. at The Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Kathryn Loutzenhiser officiating. The body will lie in state at the Sternberg-Roses Funeral Home in Estherville from today until the time of services. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
