Lulu Schenck -- ESTHERVILLE - Mrs. Lulu Amelia Schenck, 92, passed away Fri., Dec. 17 at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Mrs. Schenck was born April 16, 1884, in Castilia, to John and Mary Brawford. She was educated in the Superior school system and graduated from Superior High School. She went on to attend a normal institute in Spirit Lake, where she received her qualifications to teach in rural schools. Mrs. Schenck taught in Mt. Carmel country school, near Terril.

She was united in marriage to James DeLloyd Schenck, Sept. 15, 1904 on his parent's farm near Superior. Her husband managed the Fort Dodge Grocery Co., in Estherville, located in the present Estherville Foods, Inc., building.

Mrs. Schenck was a member of United Methodist Church, Estherville.

She is survived by one son, Gail Schenck, Rohnert, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Mel (Lucille) Roupe, West Bend, Mrs. Aurthur (Beverly) Lutz, Spirit Lake, Mrs. Ellworth (Nellie) Carlstedt, Eveleth, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, one daughter, four brothers, and one sister.

Services for Mrs. Schenck were held Monday at Henry and Olson chapel, Estherville, with burial at Superior Township Cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, IA, Mon, Dec 20, 1976, pp24)
