Orin F. Manthe Dies
Orin F. Manthe, 75, died suddenly this morning of a heart condition in Holy Family Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Manthe had celebrated their 40th anniversary in the hospital yesterday and Mr. Manthe was to have gone home from the hospital today. Funeral services are pending at Fuhrman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held for Orange Frank Manthe, 75, at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jack M. Wolter officiating. Mr. Manthe died Monday morning at Holy Family Hospital from a heart condition with which he has suffered the past two years.He was born May 4, 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Manthe, at Smith Mills, Minn. He moved with his parents to Minneapolis and received his education there.
Mr. Manthe moved to Estherville in 1915. He was married to the former Amelia Gaarde on Feb. 10, 1923, in Spirit Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Manthe had celebrated their 40th anniversary in the hospital on Sunday.
Mr. Manthe was a member of the Miles Quartet which sang in many cities all along the west coast.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Richard of Stevens Point, Wis., Donald of Dallas, Tex., Robert of Sioux Falls, S.D., and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Blossom Jones and Mrs. A. N. Bowen, both of Minneapolis, and a niece, Mrs. George Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Manthe home at 302 N. 7th St. after 6 p.m. on Wednesday and until 10 a.m. on Thursday. Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
