Mrs. Joseph Marsell Dies at Age of 68

Mrs. Joseph (Mabel) Marsell, 68, died yesterday at 5:50 p.m. at the home of her sister, Mrs. D. R. Alexander. Mrs. Marsell had been in poor health for a number of years suffering from diabetes and had taken a bad fall three weeks ago but had not been bedfast.

Born Oct. 4, 1886 on a farm in the vicinity of Bancroft, Mrs. Marsell was married in November, 1912 at Bancroft and then moved to Estherville where her husband was an employ of the Rock Island railroad. Later he was a partner in the K & M Sales Co. and operated a suburban grocery store.

Preceded in death by her husband in 1949, Mrs. Marsell is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Guy Campbell, Mrs. Florence Smith, Mrs. Bert Ditsworth and Mrs. Alexander, all of Estherville; one brother, John Hayden of Moline, Ill., and several nieces and nephews.

C. C. Hall of Ft. Dodge will conduct private funeral services for Mrs. Marsell at the Sternborg funeral home Monday at 2 p.m. Mrs. Hall will sing at the service. In accordance with wishes of the deceased, the body will not lie in state nor will the casket be open at the service. Interment will be in the Oak Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Marsell was a member of the local First Church of Christ Scientist. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 1, 1955)
