James Morris Services Held; Burial in Oak Hill
James Edward Morris, 37, was stricken at work at John Morrell and Co., Estherville, and died June 15, 1973, of an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, Spirit Lake, with the Rev. Fred J. Peters officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville.
Mr. Morris was born Feb. 28, 1936, at Carthage, S.D., to Charles Edward and Adeline Moseson Morris. His family moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., while he was a small boy and he was educated there, graduating in 1954 from Washington High School. He served in the National Guard in Sioux Falls from 1955-56.
He came to Estherville in 1957 to work for John Morrell and Co. and had resided in Spirit Lake since 1970.
Survivors include his wife, Carma, of Spirit Lake, two daughters, Monica, 15, and Cindy 13, and a son, Michael, 9; his parents; and a brother, Terry, of Estherville.
Casket bearers for the funeral were Kermit Mortenson, Carl Graves, Frank Bong, Kenny Anderson, Harold Selbert, Charlie Schmidtke and Charlie Uhlir. Harpole-Tenold Funeral Home, Spirit Lake, was in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 19, 1973)
