Edith May, wife of W. W. Hubbard died at Kimball, S. D. September 1, 1890, after an illness of about 5 months. Deceased was born at Manchester, Iowa, March 20th, 1866, her maiden name was Whitman. She was married to W. W. Hubbard at Ruthven, Iowa, July 14,1887. In May 1888 God blessed their home with a dear little girl, Leona, who only lived for 18 months when the little life went out to the one who gave it. In the spring of 1889 she became a member of the Christian church at this place on profession of faith, and lived a consistent Christian life, and died in perfect trust and peace. Just before her death when she had been told that death must come soon, she called her husband to her bedside and talked of her disease and her hopes for him and baby boy Donald, whom she prayed might receive Christian care and training. Her conduct testified more eloquently than many sermons of the power in Christ over death. And the faithful loving wife and pure Christian mother passed into the great beyond as calmly as she would have sung the lullaby to her darling baby. The funeral was conducted by Rev. M. F. Redlein of Tacoma, Washington, at the Baptist church in this place on Wednesday, September 30, and was very largely attended by relatives from abroad and her many devoted friends of this place. The church was most beautifully decorated with flowers by the kind hands of neighbors and friends.
