Frank Maniece
Frank Maniece was born in Linankea, County Fermanah, Ireland, March 4, 1844. He was the youngest child of a family of four children and for some years had been the only one living. On December 14, 1875, he married Eleanor Bussell. Four children were born to them. In 1883 they moved to America and settled on a farm in Grant County, Wisconsin. Eight years later they came to this vicinity and lived on a farm near Huntington for several years. In 1917 they settled in Estherville which has since remained their home. His wife died seven years ago, since which he has made his home with his youngest daughter.
Mr. Maniece was possessed of a rugged constitution and continued to be about in his usual activity till near the close of his life. He was confined to his bed but a few weeks when increasing infirmity added to the weight of years caused his demise at the ripe age of 84 years. Of his family of four children, three are living in this community. One son, Frank, died 13 years ago. There are also six grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Maniece were reared in the Episcopal church in Ireland. On coming to this country they joined the Methodist church which fellowship they continued throughout life. His chief interests centered in the concerns of the home and the community. He was a good neighbor and wherever he lived he was esteemed as a man with a high sense of honor. His reading was always a delight to him and he thus kept his interest in matters of the times.
The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Methodist church. Burial took place at the Oak Hill Cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 12, 1928)

Funeral services for Frank Maniece, who died Saturday afternoon, were held Monday at the Methodist church, the Rev. R. T. Chipperfield officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were Dr. P. Cain, Carl Jeglum, James McKay, Albert Irwin, Sam T. Van Eman and William West.

Mr. Maniece was a leader in community affairs and though never radical in his views, was always progressive.
