Mrs. Lorenzo Lough Dies
Former Resident of Estherville
Mrs. Lorenzo Lough, 77, former longtime resident and sister of Mrs. G. H. Morse of Estherville, died Sunday at Cedar Rapids. Her body will be returned to Estherville for burial in Oak Hill cemetery at the side of her husband who was buried there in 1938.

Mrs. Lough was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Neville, early merchants in Estherville. She was born Feb. 5, 1873 in Mitchell county, Iowa, later moving to Osage and in 1882 came to Estherville with her parents. Her parents sent their household goods to Estherville from Osage on the first train that came to Estherville over Milwaukee tracks. (The Milwaukee later tore out the tracks.)

Mrs. Lough later graduated from high school in Estherville in 1891 with the first graduating class of Estherville high school. Later, she taught in the local schools and served on the local board of education for nine years.

Her husband was a locomotive engineer for the Rock Island railroad until his retirement in 1937. At that time the Loughs moved to California. Mr. Lough died in 1938.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Morse in Estherville and Mrs. Edith Turner in Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by a son, Harold, who died last year in California.

A Christian Science service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Sandin Funeral home with burial in Oakhill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 7, 1950)
