Mrs. Ann West, one of the pioneer women of Emmet county, died at her home on north Sixth street at seven o’clock this morning after an illness of many months. She was seventy-six years of age at the time of her death and had been a resident of Emmet county for fifty-six years. Mrs. West was born in Canada and came to Emmet county with her husband, George West, soon after they were married an located on the farm now owned by William West on the Armstrong road. Here they resided until fifteen years ago when Mr. West passed away and Mrs. West sold the farm and built a home in this city where she resided until death came this morning. Mrs. West was an exceptionally good woman, loved by her children, relatives and friends. She was always ready to help those in need. Her old time neighbors speak in highest terms of her loyalty to her friends. Eleven children are left to mourn the death of their beloved mother. They are, Robert, George, William, Mrs. Ella Irwin, Mrs. Archie Bixby, and Mrs. Emil Leo, all of this city; Francis Wet in California, Hazel at Omaha, Joe at Fort Dodge, Charlie at Bonair, Iowa, and Thomas at Port Huron, Mich.
