Mrs. Knapp, Longtime City Resident, Dies
Mrs. Jessie Randall Knapp, resident of Estherville since 1893, died early Sunday morning, April 27, after a long illness. She would have been 96 years old June 29.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Alex Johnston home, 802 Second avenue south. The Rev. Thomas Melton will officiate.

Mrs. Knapp was born June 29, 1856, in Rock Island, Ill., daughter of Rebecca Wellington Fenring and Henry Carter Randall. The family moved to Davenport while Mrs. Knapp was a child and it was at Davenport, Sept. 20, 1877, that she was married to Milton M. Knapp. He was associated with the railroad there and later they moved to Luverne, Minn., to Cedar Rapids and to Estherville in 1893.

Mrs. Knapp was a member of the Presbyterian church, a charter member of Chapter AY of P.E.O., and a member of Daughters of American Revolution.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Alex Johnston, a granddaughter, Mrs. F. R. Everds, and a great-granddaughter, Carolyn Everds.

Mr. and Mrs. Knapp celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 1940 and Mr. Knapp died in 1942.

Out-of-town relatives and friends who plan to attend the funeral are Mrs. W. A. Steator of Mankato and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Phipps of Cherokee.

Pall bearers for the funeral will be John H. Rhodes, Harmon O. Veldey, Delbert C. Hinsch, Francis T. Shadle, Jno. E. Greig and Dr. A. Norman Rugtiv. John M. Stockdale and J. E. Stockdale will drive the family cars. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 28, 1952)
