Death of Mrs. Roy Jones
Nettie Olivia Lind was born September 15, 1885, in Bureau county, Illinois, and died at her home in Estherville, Iowa, April 27, 1923, at the age of 37 years, 7 months and 12 days.

Having grown to mature womanhood she was united in marriage to Roy E. Jones, to which union were born four children. They are: Francis, now 11 years; Miriam, 9 years; Robert, 8 years, and Charles, 3 years.

Mrs. Jones was a quiet though very pleasant lady with a sunny disposition and had many devoted friends among her acquaintance. She was a faithful wife and a devoted and loving mother, who gave without stint to the welfare and happiness of her family. She was soundly converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church and was ever a faithful and conscientious member of the same. She was very appreciative and greatly enjoyed the sacred services of the church.

Several months ago she became aware of the fact that her strength was slipping away, and after some delay she sought medical advice, and was surprised to hear that her trouble was a weak heart. Notwithstanding her endeavor to follow in the last detail all instructions given by her doctor she steadily grew weaker and after two months confinement to her bed she quietly slipped away on Friday morning to enter into the joys of her Lord. She was very patient and never complained though her affliction was most disappointing to her. She was reconciled to what she recognized as the will of her Lord.

She leaves to mourn her untimely departure her husband and four children, her aged father and mother and two brothers, also other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church on Sunday afternoon, when Rev. J. W. LaGrone, the pastor, spoke appreciatively of the her Christian character and of the divine providence ruling over our lives and doing all things for our good and for the Father’s glory. Music was furnished by a quartet, pall bearers were selected from the Estherville fire company, of which Mr. Jones is a member. Many beautiful floral offerings were brought. The body was buried in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, May 2, 1923)
