Death of Austin Jones
Austin Jones died at the hospital in Nevada, Iowa, on July 3rd, where he had been taken in hopes of regaining his health, having been a sufferer of Bright’s disease and dropsy for some time. His remains were brought back to the home south of Superior and funeral services were conducted there on the morning of July 6th by Rev. Watson, of Superior, after which internment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. He was fifty-six years of age at the time of his death and had been a resident of Dickinson county for twelve years, moving there with his family from Plymouth, Wis. He had been sick for nearly a years but was up and around most of the time until two months ago. About a week previous to his death he was taken to the Sanitarium at Nevada, accompanied by Mrs. Jones who was with him when he passed away. Besides his wife, five children are left to mourn his untimely death. They are Alice, Harry and Roy at home, Mrs. Florence Lind, of Kandiyohi, Minn., and Mrs. Scott Miller of this city. We are indebted to our Superior correspondent for the following obituary:Austin Jones was called home July 3, 1913, at the age of fifty-six years. He was born in Manatowoc, Wisconsin, coming to Superior about twelve years ago. Mr. Jones had been in poor health for the past year and had gone to Nevada, for treatment, when the death angel summoned him. His death, while not wholly unexpected, brought much sorrow with it. He was a kind husband and father and one of those wholehearted men who are always willing to lend a helping hand. And thus the life book of another friend and neighbor has been closed. Inscribed on its pages are the deeds of one who lived to do good for humanity.
Funeral services were held at the home Sunday at 10 a.m. Rev. Watson preached the funeral sermon and the body was laid to rest in the Estherville cemetery. He leaves to mourn his death a wife and several children. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow.
Following are the names of those from away attending the funeral: Mrs. Scott Miller of Estherville, daughter of the deceased; Mrs. Peck of Waldo, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Brown of Sioux Rapids; Mrs. Jones’ mother and brother of Ashon; Mr. and Mrs. Brawford, Mrs. Dyke, Mr. and Mrs. Littell and Mr. and Mrs. Beatty of Estherville.
