ESTHERVILLE – Services for Gordon R. Mix, 76, of Estherville are scheduled 11 a.m. Tuesday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville.

Mix died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. Visitation is scheduled 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

Gordon R. Mix, son of Harry and Anna (Egge) Mix, was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Jackson. He received his education in Jackson and Mason City, Iowa, schools.

On Sept. 19, 1942, he married Minna Fowler at Dakota City, Neb. The couple lived in Kensett, Iowa, Mason City and rural Alpha. They lived and farmed 20 years in rural Armstrong. For the past 20- years they have lived in Estherville where he was a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Minna Mix of Estherville; daughters, Starlene Bortvit and husband, Larry, of Bolivar, Mo., Sherry Fisher and husband, Marvin, of Estherville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Vestal, Alvina Kingsbury and husband, Merle, and Norma Jean Rowe and husband, Dan, all of Mason City, Beverly Cornelius and husband, Earl, of Urbandale, Iowa, and Ruth Biscailluz,, and Rose Lewis and husband, Virgil, all of Ridgecrest, Calif., and brother Vern Mix and wife, Phyllis, of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, great-grandson, parents and one brother.
