ESTHERVILLE – Service for James Nyman, 88, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Estherville Lutheran Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery at Bancroft.
Mr. Nyman died Tuesday at the Heritage Home at Bancroft. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at Henry and Olson Funeral Home at Estherville and one hour prior to service at the church.
He was born March 24, 1895, near Bancroft. He attended country schools in the Bancroft area and graduated from Iowa State College in 1913 in the two–year farm operations program. He served in the Army in France during World War I. He married Alice Peterson May 9, 1923, at Litchfield, Minn. They farmed in the Bancroft area until 1950, when they moved to Estherville. He worked for the Satern Construction Company in Estherville until his retirement. She died Feb. 10, 1983. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran church and a charter member of the McKi9nnon Post No. 377 in Bancroft.
Survivors include his sons, Wayne of Bancroft, Dale Baton Rouge, La.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Carl of Venice Gardens, Fla.
