DEATH OF A VERY ESTIMABLE OLD LADY

Mrs. Hannah Keenan Dies at Home in this City at Age of Eighty-nine Years

Ms. Hannah Keenan passed away at her home in this city on Sunday, July 7th, aged 89 years, 2 months and 22 days. The immediate cause of her death was old age. She sank into unconsciousness and gradually slept away the remaining span of life.

Funeral was held from St. Patrick’s Catholic church at eight o’clock Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. J.G. Murtagh. The body was taken to Waterloo and buried by the side of her husband who passed away in this city several years ago.

There are left to mourn her death one daughter, Mrs. Dan Donovan, of Minneapolis; and two sons, Will Keenan, of Cedar Rapids; and George Keenan of this city; all of whom were at the funeral and accompanied the body to its last resting place.

Hannah Mansfield was born in the county Waterford, Ireland, April 15, 1829. She came to the Untied Sates in 1854. In 1859 she was united in marriage to Patrick Keenan of Dubuque, Iowa, with whom she lived happily until separated by death. She came with her husband to Emmet county twenty-one years ago and resided most of the time since then in Estherville. She was a devout member of the Catholic church and a member of the Rosary Society. She was a splendid Christian lady, a devoted mother and kind neighbor.

Besides the immediate relatives those who attended the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Joynt of Emmetsburg and Mrs. Frank Robinson and daughter of Iowa Falls.

Miss Josephine Long of this city accompanied the mourners to Waterloo.
