Frank L. Godfrey Services Here on Tuesday Afternoon
The remains of Frank L. Godfrey were brought her from Marion for burial on Tuesday in Oak Hill cemetery.

Mr. Godfrey was for many years a resident of this city. He came here as a mechanic for the old B.C.R.& N. RY. and was in service here for many years. He was 86 years of age at the time of his death at the home of a daughter.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Voorhies of Marion and Mrs. G. N. Gyldenvand of Des Moines both of whom were at the funeral services from the Sternborg funeral home. The Rev. Voorhies, former pastor of the Presbyterian church in this city was also in attendance. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, May 8, 1947)

Frank Godfrey Dies After Brief Illness
Funeral services were held at the Yosom Chapel at 3 p.m. Monday for Frank L. Godfrey, 86, with the Rev. C. V. R. DeJong, officiating. Burial was made in Oak Hill cemetery, Estherville.

Mr. Godfrey died at 4:05 p.m. Saturday, May 3, following a brief illness at the home of his son-in-aw and daughter, Rev. and Mrs. Gilbert Voorhies, 380 Eleventh street.

Mr. Godfrey was born at Lafayette, Ind. January 2, 1861, the son of Joseph R. and Deborah Hitchcock Godfrey. He married May E. Goff at Estherville, May 31, 1888. Mrs. Godfrey died December 23, 1927. He was employed as a mechanic with the Rock Island lines at Estherville, retiring January 2, 1931. He came to Marion nine years ago from Alhambra, Calif. He was a member of the Marion Presbyterian church.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Voorhies, Marion, and Mrs. H. N. Gyldenvand, Des Moines, a brother, Joe E. Godfrey, Cedar Rapids, a sister, Mrs. Cora Griswold, Oakland, Calif., four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A daughter, Lucile preceded him in death.
