John Gifford Dies in Minneapolis
John Gifford died at the home of his son in Minneapolis Saturday [June 3, 1916] after a prolonged illness. The body was brought to Estherville for burial in Oak Hill cemetery Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Gifford for a long time was a resident of this city and was employed by the city in the electric light plant and later as night watchman.

He was a kind and generous hearted old gentleman and has many old-time friends here. His wife died about five years ago and since then he made his home with his son in Minneapolis. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, June 7, 1916)
