F. [Foster] E. Gorton Dead
Died at Home of His Son G.L. Gorton East of Town Friday Evening

Mr. F. E. Gorton died at the home of his son, east of town last Friday [April 17, 1908] after an illness of one week. Funeral was held from the residence Sunday afternoon, Rev. Cole, of the Methodist church officiating. The body was buried in Oak Hill cemetery by the side of his wife and two sons who had preceded him to the great beyond.

He is survived by two sons, Chester A. Gorton, of White, S.D. and G. L. Gorton, of this county, and three daughters, Mrs. F. A. McCreery, of Clarion, Mrs. Joe Thackeray, of Marion, Iowa and Mrs. C. H. Calkins, of Idaho, all of whom were at the funeral except Mrs. Calkins.

Deceased had lived in the county thirteen years, having moved here from Linn county in 1895. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, April 22, 1908)
