Stow Dies Suddenly

Oliver P. Stow of Dolliver, 73, prominent Emmet County grain dealer and elevator operator, died suddenly yesterday afternoon about 3 o'clock of a heart attack at the Stow Elevator in Dolliver. Mr. Stow had been in apparent good health all day attending to duties at his business when he was suddenly stricken.

Mr. Stow came to Dolliver a short time after his marriage and had been in the grain business there for 47 years.

He was born Aug. 23, 1884 at Burt in Kossuth county and moved with parents when a young boy to Missouri. The family moved back to Iowa and he was married Sept. 9, 1908 at Algona.

Mr. Stow was prominent in church, business and civic affairs of his community and the county and was a particularly avid sports fan with a wide acquaintance in athletic circles. For many years he managed boys baseball teams at Dolliver and turned out numerous winning aggregations. He was in regular attendance at all Dolliver High School athletic events and was almost always in the stands when the Estherville Red Sox were playing baseball in the Iowa State League.

Mr. Stow served for 20 years on Dolliver district board of education and was active in the Dolliver Methodist church.

He is survived by his widow, two sons, Gerald and William both of Dolliver; six grandchildren, sons and daughters of William Stow; two brothers, Milford of Vivi, Okla. and Archie of Chataw, Okla.; and two sisters, Mrs. Bernard Mote of Sharon, Okla. and Mrs. Alva Allen of Illinois.

Funeral services have been tentatively set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Dolliver Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Glazier officiating. Burial will be at Dolliver. Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from tomorrow evening until Tuesday.

O.P. Stow, Dolliver Grain Merchant, Succumbs at 73

DOLLIVER—O.P. Stow, owner of the Stow Grain Elevator died suddenly yesterday while at work at the elevator. He was 73 years old. Death was caused by a heart attack.

He was born near Burt in Kossuth county in 1883. As a boy he moved with his parents to Missouri, later moving back to Iowa. He came to Dolliver about 1910 to work for a grain firm. Mr. Stow later purchased the firm which he operated with his sons, William and Gerald, until his death.

He is survived by his wife, sons William and Gerald, six grandchildren and two brothers and a sister in Oklahoma.

Funeral services are pending word from relatives in Oklahoma. The Sandin Funeral Home of Estherville is in charge of arrangements.
