Ed Ellis ‘73’ Dies Sun.; Was Ill Two Weeks
Dies at Son’s Home in Cassopolis, Mich., Sunday Morning

Edwin Ellis, 73, for many years a resident of Estherville, died Sunday [June 18, 1933] morning at the home of his son Ray in Cassopolis, Mich. Mr. Ellis died after an illness of about two weeks.

Mr. Ellis lived nearly all his life in Estherville, working as a mason here. The past ten years he has lived with sons and daughters at Cassopolis and Minneapolis. He was a member of the Woodman lodge.

Services will be held here Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. and burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery beside his wife and son Clarence.

Surviving are three brothers, Frank of Estherville, George of Stewartville, Minn., and Milt of Austin, Minn.; two sons, Robert of Minneapolis, and Ray, of Cassopolis, as sister, Mrs. W. E. Van Gorder of Redwood City, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Ethel Hayes and Mrs. Winifred Prochasky, Niles, Mich., Mrs. Gus Schaefer of Lineville, Minn. and Mrs. Geo. Merkle of Chicago. Edwin L. Ellis Laid to Rest Today in Oak Hill Cemetery

The remains of Edwin L. Ellis, 73, were brought here Monday from Cassopolis, Mich., where he has been residing with his son, Ray.

Mr. Ellis is a pioneer resident of Estherville. He, for as far back as the writer can recall, has been a mason and plasterer in this city and one of the best.

The funeral services will be held from the Mahlum and Anderson funeral home this afternoon and interment will be made beside his wife in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Surviving are his two sons, Robert of Minneapolis, and Ray, of Cassopolis, and five daughters, Mrs. Ethel Hayes and Mrs. Winifred Pershaski of Minneapolis, Mrs. Gus Schaffer of near Minneapolis, and two married daughters of Chicago; three brothers, Frank of Estherville; Milt of Austin, Minn., and George of Stewartville, Minn.
