Mr. and Mrs. Con. Einwalter’s little two year old daughter died at Ellsworth Tuesday morning after a prolonged struggle with pneumonia. It was their only child and we all know how they loved her. She was the pride and joy of the good natured conductor and nothing in his power was too good for her. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 5, 1902)

Word was received Tuesday that the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Einwalter died at three o’clock that morning. Two weeks ago the mother and baby went to Ellsworth, Minn., to visit friends and relatives but shortly after their arrival the little one was taken ill and for the last ten days it has been a constant fight between life and death. The trouble was with her heart and in spite of the most loving and skillful care the little life succumbed this morning. Edres [per gravestone s/b Doris] was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Einwalter and for two years she has been the object of their hopes and joys. The deepest sympathy of their many friends here are with the bereaved father and mother. It was the usual sight on pleasant afternoons to see the mother and baby wending their way to the depot as the clock hands approached the hour of four and nearly all have watched the eager stride of Conductor Einwalter as he stepped from his train and saw the outstretched hands and loving face lifted to kiss “papa.” His trips now will indeed seem incomplete. The little body was brought to Estherville Thursday and funeral was held in the afternoon. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, March 7, 1902)

The funeral of the Einwalter child was held at 2:30 this afternoon at the house. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, March 7, 1902)
