M. Einwalter, Once Resident Here, Interred
The body of Milton C. Einwalter, veteran Rock Island railroad conductor and former resident here was brought to Estherville Sunday for burial. Mr. Einwalter died Friday at Cedar Rapids, after having been ill a long time. He was retired on a pension Feb. 1, 1929.

The funeral cortege left the Mahlum and Anderson mortuary chapel at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. This included members of North Star lodge No. 447, A.F. & A.M. and an escort, consisting of railroad conductors, who came with the body from Cedar Rapids. Those in this escort were J. S. Wolfe, A. H. Tiffany, and A. C. Allen. Earl Shyler, brakeman of Mr. Einwalter, was also persent.

Services at the grave in Oak Hill cemetery were in charge of North Star lodge. Pallbearers were W. A. Heidke, T. J. Lerdahl, F. G. Mauser, L. A. McAffee, Harry Shryver, and C. A. Shryver. Funeral services at Cedar Rapids were conducted Saturday in charge of Crescent lodge, A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Einwalter’s widow was present at the services. Mrs. White of Tipton, a sister of the deceased, and her husband, also attended.

Milton C. Einwalter was born at Fort Atkinson, Ia., in 1862 and died at Cedar Rapids Friday. He entered the service of the B.C.R. and N. railroad in 1887 as a brakeman and was later promoted to a conductor. During this time he resided in Estherville. In 1902 he moved to Cedar Rapids, then working for the Rock Island, which took over the B.C.R. and N. For the last several years he was a conductor of a passenger train running between Cedar Rapids and Minneapolis. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, May 16, 1929)
