Mrs. N. B. Egbert Dies Suddenly at Iowa Falls
Was Visiting at Son’s Home – Prominent in Affairs Here for 45 Years

Mrs. Jane S. Egbert, 73, widow of Nelson B. Egbert, died very suddenly last night at the home of her son Carl at Iowa Falls where she was visiting. A phone call came to her daughter, Mrs. S. E. Dillon here at about eight thirty saying that she was taken with a severe attack of what seemed to be acute indigestion. Two doctors and a nurse were with her at that time. A second message at eleven thirty stated that her heart has failed and that she had passed away.

Mrs. Egbert was dearly beloved by a wide circle of friends in Estherville where she has lived continuously for the past 45 years and her passing will be greatly mourned.

She was born in 1856 in Thedford, Canada, and was married to N. B. Egbert in Jan., 1877. Both Mr. and Mrs. Egbert were prominent in Estherville. Mrs. Egbert was a charter member of North Star Chapter O.E.S. and a past worthy matron. She was a member of the Episcopal church and was active in the work of the church and in social affairs as well as devoted to her home and family.

Three children survive this good woman, Mrs. Sim R. Stedman of Emmetsburg G. C. Egbert of Iowa Falls, and Mrs. S. E. Dillon of this city. There are also four grandchildren, Mrs. Clarence Kobe of Grand Rapids, Mich., Shirley Egbert of Iowa Falls and John and Bromley Dillon of this place.]

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, short prayer service at the home at two o’clock and at two-thirty from Grace Episcopal church. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, January 22, 1930)

Mrs. J. Egbert Dies Suddenly
Lived at Estherville 45 Years

Mrs. Jane S. Egbert, mother of Mrs. S. E. Dillon, died suddenly Tuesday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Egbert at Iowa Falls, where she was visiting. She died from acute indigestion and heart trouble.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at the house at 2 and at the Episcopal church at 2:30. The remains were brought here from Iowa Falls last night.

Jane. S. Willet was born in 1856 at Thedford, Canada, and was married in Jan. 1877, to Nelson Bromley Egbert. They came to Estherville in 1865 and made this their home since that time. Mr. Egbert preceded his wife in death.

Mrs. Egbert was a charter member of the Order of Eastern Star chapter here, of which she was a Past Matron. She was also a member of the Episcopal church.

Mrs. Egbert is survived by a son, Carl Egbert of Iowa Falls, two daughters, Mrs. S. E. Dillon of Estherville and Mrs. Sim R. Stedman of Emmetsburg. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, January 23, 1930)
