Former Milford Resident Dies Monday, July 10
Mrs. Olive Dorsey, who has made her home for several years with a daughter, Mrs. George Stammer, at Loon Lake, died Tuesday evening, July 11, at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Dorsey, sister of M. M. Jones of Milford, resided in Milford for several years and cared for the late Mrs. A. W. Antisdel, and has many friends in this community.

Mrs. Dorsey suffered a stroke Monday noon and passed away about 8:30 Tuesday evening.

Funeral services will be at the Loon Lake church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock and burial will be at the Estherville cemetery. A complete obituary will be printed next week. (Milford Mail, Milford, IA, July 13, 1950)

Olive Dorsey, 83, Died Tuesday at Daughter’s Home
Mrs. Olive Dorsey, 83, passed away Tuesday, July 11 at 8 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Stammer in the Loon Lake area. Death was the result of a stroke suffered Monday and Mrs. Dorsey has been in a coma since that time until she passed away.

Olive Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Jones was born October 7, 1866 near the Missouri line, in southern Iowa.

She was married in Spirit Lake to M. J. Dorsey and they made their home in Estherville and Spirit Lake communities in 1900. This was their home from that time on.

Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey, three daughters and two sons.

Mr. Dorsey passed away 24 years ago, and one son and one daughter preceded Mrs. Dorsey in death. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, July 13, 1950)

Dies at Age of 83
Mrs. Emma Oliver Dorsey, 83, mother of Mrs. George Stammer of Spirit Lake, died Tuesday night at the Stammer home. Mrs. Dorsey had been living with the Stammers for the past 12 years. She was born Oct. 7, 1866 at Drakesville, Davis county, Iowa. Her husband preceded her in death. Services will be held at 2 p.m. at Loon lake church. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to the deceased at the Sternborg funeral home tonight and until 10 a.m. tomorrow. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 13, 1950)

Funeral Services Held Last Friday for Mrs. Dorsey
Funeral services for Mrs. Olive Dorsey were held Friday afternoon, July 14th at Loon Lake church with Rev. Nelson pastor of the church and Rev. M. L. Jones of Rock Valley officiating. Burial was in the Estherville cemetery. Casket bearers were Harley M. Jones of Spencer, Glen W. Jones, Spirit Lake, Clyde Jones, Sioux Rapids, Dale Jones, Milford, Ralph Jones, Knoxville and Ray Whisler, Moulton. Rev. Jones and the casket bearers were all nephews of Mrs. Dorsey.

Emma Olive Dorsey, daughter of James and Mary E. Jones was born Oct. 7th 1866 in Davis Co., Iowa. She was one of a family of eight children.

She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Stammer on July 11, 1950 at the age of 83 years nine months and four days.

Her early girlhood was spent with her folks at Davis Co. She moved with them to Clay Co., Iowa in 1883, where she lived until the time of her marriage to M. James Dorsey on Aug. 29, 1885, at Spirit Lake, Iowa. Their early married life was spent in Clay Co., Iowa and in and around Estherville, Iowa. Mr. Dorsey passed away in June of 1926 and since that time Mrs. Dorsey has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. George Stammer.

Mrs. Dorsey expressed her faith by joining the Christian church at Estherville. She was a member of Gloaming Chapter, O.E.S. of Milford.

For several years after her husband passed away she did practical nursing. This vocation lended itself well with her native ability of loving folks. Her desire to be helpful to those in need was noted by all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her three children, Frank M. Dorsey of Denver, Colo., Edna Stammer of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Pearl Olivas of Los Angeles, Calif. Two children preceded her in death, Mable in infancy and James Willie in 1912. Besides the children, one brother, Minor M. Jones of Milford, nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren 24 nieces and nephews survive.

Her jovial disposition coupled with her heart of gold made her loved by all who ever met her.

Relatives from away who attended the services were Mrs. Dorsey’s son Frank, of Denver, Colo., her daughter, Pearl Olivas, of Los Angeles, Calif., two granddaughters from Illinois, a niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ayers of Des Moines, another niece and husband Mr. and Mrs. Ray Callon of Milwaukee, Wis., the following relatives from this community: M. M. Jones, Mrs. Erle Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Carr, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Crumlett, the latter from Terril, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Jones of Spencer, Ralph Jones, Knoxville and Ray Whisler, Moulton.
